Mainly used in theatre for fixing together two pieces of scenery which will remain together permanently, such as flats that are 'booked', or to act as a fixing between two items that are not at right angles. The two parts of the hinge will go from a closed position through almost 270 0 to its fully open position. 1½", 1¾" and 2" hinges take No.8 (4mm) fixing screws, the 2 ½" and 3" take No.10 (5mm) fixing screws.
