French Enamel Varnish (FEV)

Made from bleached and chemically dyed shellac. It is manufactured in several colours and is used to stain and varnish wood all in one process. It is also used on props and scenery where a transparent colour is required, such as glass or plastic. Not recommended for flexible surfaces or cloths, or for durable surfaces such as floors. Can also be used to colour low wattage light bulbs.
