Multi Marine Primer (750ml) BrownMulti Marine Primer (750ml) Brown (PATEMMB750M)
I am really growing to like this product. It has been out for a few years now so I know that it is remarkably tough because I started using using it when it was realeased. It has fantastic covering power going on a little thicker than most paints (but don't overdo it) and it dries quickly allowing the job to progress. I suppose its most unique feature is that this versatile primer can be used on steel, wood, glassfibre, aluminium, galvanised steel, and stainless steel! It really seems to stick like mad to anything. Remarkably it can be overcoated with one and two component paints. Because it sticks to such a variety of substrates I find it great for priming bilges where it will adhere to bronze seacocks and floors as well as timber, copper rivet heads, aluminium bronze keel bolts and washers and even stainless steel box things for the mast to sit on (what are they called?). In fact I reckon a couple of coats the grey Multi-Primer (maybe three coats) and you won't need any bilge paint at all. It has a lovely soft satin finish. If you are really confident that donker won't splatter any oil about why not have white bilges - nothing will impress the girlfriend/boyfriend more.
You can use this paint to transition between one part and two part paint systems but it shouldn't be used under epoxy filler. I have used it underwater on the outside of my hull (over seacock strainers and plates) and it has been fine, actually pretty bullet proof, however I have made inquiries as to why they do not recommend it for underwater use and apparently some antifoulings react with it. So best to avoid it underwater on the outside of the hull but for the bilges or any other priming including glass fibre it is great. Give it a go, I think you will be noticeably impressed.
Touch dry in 3 hours,
Sandable in 6 hours,
Recoatable in 12 hours (48 hours with two component products).
Coverage 8-10 square metres per litre.
Price: £16.65 (£19.98 Including VAT at 20%)
