We've all done it but "the ABTT strongly recommends that an occupied Tallescope is not moved" following the withdrawal of it's code of practice for the selection and use of temporary access equipment for working at height in theatres. The ABTT have decided to withdraw the COP following the withdrawal of the manufacturer's instructions part of which were reprinted in the COP. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit us at the Beale Park Boat Show or the ABTT Theatre Show in June. At the ABTT there was a rigging theme on our demonstration stand with practical demonstrations of a number of techniques and products. Our new "box" stand across the way attracted the usual crowds. Thank you to Richard, Jo, Alvaro, Gary & Alasdair for all their hard work.
	Meanwhile at Beale Park we unveiled our new marine catalogue and enjoyed some early summer sun, a noticeable change from the rain of last year. As always there was great interest in new products at both shows with our new four way podger causing quite a stir.

Demonstration Evening

Flints held a successful Sata Demonstration Evening on the 19th May, giving all those who attended an opportunity to get hands-on experience of these excellent spray guns. Many thanks to Russell and all those who came.

Flints are now distributors of Nicopress products, a well proven system from America which has been used to terminate wires in the aviation industry for over 55 years. The Nicopress ferrules have a distinctive shape which neatly separates the wires. The system is ideally suited to hand crimping wires in theatres, outdoor events, or at the boatyard and the tools are a great improvement on the hand crimpers designed for BS and DIN ferrules as far more pressure is exerted on the ferrule. The action of the tools is very positive and the larger tools are supplied with detailed instructions and a check gauge to ensure the ferrule is correctly compressed. The ferrules are suitable for both galvanised and stainless steel wire rope. Flints have had a small tool and ferrules developed for crimping our very small stainless micro cables - ideal for invisible display, animatronics and micro control cables. A length of our spendid 24mm artificial hemp has been found to be very suited both for use in the rigging, and for getting them fitter and stronger as the club use tug-of-war as part of their fitness training. The previous rope snapped in half leaving Richard our Special Projects Manager flat on his backside so Flints stepped in to provide a replacement and hopefully avoid any more injuries to our staff...

Southwark Lancers are a new Rugby Union club based in the heart of London, in Burgess Park less than five minutes from the Flints Shop. They were founded in 2008 and played their first season as part of the Kent Metropolitan Merit League last year gaining a promotion.
