Sky High

Flints now stock pyrotechnics from Skyhigh whose range offers excellent value. The consumables are fired using the PDS system. The use of pyrotechnics, indoors or outdoors, is at the sole discretion of the operator who will have taken note of the prevailing situation. Operators are warned that pyrotechnic devices can vary in performance and this must be borne in mind when siting devices. Please refer to to the safety rules at the bottom of this page. Pyrotechnic Detonating Systems (PDS)

The PDS2 is a complete 2-channel pyrotechnic control system consisting of a two channel controller, one stainless steel Smartpod (with a LED to warn when the system is armed), plus two four pin XLR plugs and a mains lead. Up to four pods can be daisy chained on each channel. Optional Angle Brackets to convert a standard Smartpod into an angled pod are also available. The system will also work on 12V DC. The PDS4 controller is the 4 channel version.

Pyrotechnic Consumables

All these consumables use the PDS system. If you intend to use a Le Maitre firing pod you will need a SFX2L adaptor. The distances referred to are the recommended horizontal and vertical safety zone for each effect. Click on the thumbnails for a larger image.

Stage Flashes produce a bang, flash and a puff of smoke lasting 2 seconds. Typically announcing the arrival of a genie.

Silver Bursts produce a bright flash and a shower of crackling white hot particles and a mushroom of smoke and intense heat. The effect lasts approximately 2 seconds.

Jets produce a small crack followed by a jet of silver sparkles for about 2 seconds

Gerbs crack on ignition followed by a fountain of sparks.

Ice Fountain produces a vertical fountain of silver sparks but with very little heat. They can be used very close to performers with great decorative effect.

Confetti and Skyfetti Cartridges produce a loud report and a small flash coupled with the ejection of 50g with a throw of 5M (large) or 90g with a throw of 6M (giant) of confetti. Skyfetti takes four times as long to fall than confetti and is available in red, white, green and multi.

Safety Rules

Do not smoke when handling effect cartridges.
Keep away from naked flames and all other sources of ignition (e.g. batteries, stray currents, mobile phones etc.)
Store all cartridges in a cool dry place
Do not use Pyrotechnics in confined spaces or near flammable material.
Pyrotechnics should only be used by adults.
When loading a cartridge, ensure that the detonator system is isolated from the mains and that the key switch is removed. Unplug the cable from the pod and insert the cartridge.
Around each pod there is a safety zone, which should be clear before the effect is fired.
ALL personnel should be made aware of the safety zone.
As the system can support two effects per channel, the pods connected to each should be located in the same safety zone.
The person detonating the effect should have a clear view of the safety zone.
The effect should not be fired if anyone is inside the safety zone. IF IN DOUBT...DO NOT FIRE.
Remove the key and switch off the unit immediately after use.
