When raising a piece of flattage from a horizontal position to vertical you can put enormous pressure on the wire rope if it sits on a sharp bend, which could damage your wire. With this simple fitting, the wire sits on a 90° curve cushioning any stress point.
This new fitting was invented by Steve Macluskie, Lecturer at Royal Conservatoire Scotland, specialising in Technical Stage Management. We were so impressed by the simplicity of this fitting and makes a perfect addition to our own range of in house developed scenery fittings.
Steve initially submitted his idea for the fitting to the ABTT Virtual Ideas Platform who help people with innovative ideas/solutions to collaborate with industry partners to help develop their ideas. We at Flints have a long established supply chain of creating bespoke scenery ironmongery so we were the perfect fit!
