Cotton Rope

A lightweight soft three strand rope often used for decorative purposes. It can easily be dyed and flameproofed.

Cotton rope is rather stretchy due to its soft lay up and is not normally used for lifting purposes. It is however very comfortable to handle and so it is very popular with aerialists. Some traditional small boats still like to use cotton mainsheets.
